Earth floors, also known as adobe floors, are made of sand, clay, and straw, bound together with linseed oil. In essence it’s a kind of ‘earth linoleum’, since early linoleum was made from linseed oil, cork, and sawdust. Earth floors are about as strong as pine flooring, quite waterproof, and above all beautiful. Various finishes are possible from textured and filled with straw, to quite smooth and leathery.
